Would you believe that a business closely tied to its Hunter valley land was actually born on the beach? That’s right, it’s thanks to The Heart-Centred Business Conference in Noosa, Queensland. The conference has been an important part of my life for years, and I’m so excited to be returning this year.

Why is the Heart-Centred Business Conference so important to me? My participation the last three years is deeply connected with the fact that I’m in “realising the dream” territory now. I have to pinch myself! How did this conference lead to the creation of Putty Retreats?
Beginnings
In 2023 I felt the calling to go to Noosa and signed up despite my trepidation that I wouldn’t be fancy enough or hustle-y enough for these established business greats. I bought a new bag that I thought would make me look professional enough. When I arrived I discovered that the room was full of people at different stages and many were just like me. Turns out “the greats” are humans like me, they are interested to hear about what I am working on, and we can share a chat about our dogs just as easily. The inkling of a feeling that I might fit in with this group was a most unexpected delight, and I knew spending more time with these folks would make my business flourish.
At that time I wanted there to be some way to bring people to our amazing private wilderness but I didn’t know what was possible, or if. (2023 was also bookmarked by my own solo retreat time, topic for another post.)
By September 2024 I was still enjoying online coaching but it was clear to me that sharing the valleys of Putty with other people was going to be a top passion. I just needed a place nearby on a sealed road to make it realistic. In Noosa I started saying out loud to people “I am building a dance floor/classroom/retreat space in the bush”.
Thanks to that year’s art journaling workshop about our goals (Thank you Emma!) creating a forest classroom became a symbol on the wall above my desk. In the Planning Posse with Tash I narrowed my focus down to figuring out retreats at Putty. One focus!
Results
By the time I got to 2025’s conference, I’d bought a new property near our wilderness, one that met all my requirements and more, and I started creating something new for real with the support, advice, accountability, and cheerleading of a small group of do-ers who worked together for a few months after the conference.
